This 5 day course is designed to prepare wood flooring professionals to become a wood flooring inspector. The NWFACP Certified Wood Flooring Inspector Test will be offered for an additional cost. Must be a member of NWFA to register for the test.

Inspector School

·         Prerequisites

o   Mandatory attendance of NWFA Basic Installation, Basic Sand & Finish, Intermediate Installation, Intermediate Sand & Finish. With 3 years of "validated" experience (references required), one can bypass the applicable Basic level classes. 

o   Complete the NWFA University Installation , Sand & Finish and Manufacturing courses   

This 5-day course is designed to prepare wood flooring professionals to become a wood flooring inspector. Topics include:

·         Inspectors’ professional role and legal responsibilities.

·         Learning why and how to properly identify the issue.

·         The art and skill of conducting interviews.

·         Thorough training on testing methods, tools and how this is used to validate some specific issues.

·         Students will learn where to find and how to use and review industry standards.

·         Report writing.

·         Conduction of an inspection.

Actual flooring inspections are included as part of the training.

·         Receive four continuing certification units upon completion


Take the NWFACP Inspector Certification Test for an additional charge of $350. Must be an NWFA member to register for the test.



The Inspector Certification Test is an online, open-book test that must be completed prior to the Inspector School. The cost for the test is $350/member. Nonmembers are not allowed to test.

The Inspection Test has two parts. The first part is an OPEN BOOK online exam 

The second part of the exam includes two Inspection Report Scenarios from the Inspector School.  Reports are to be written and turned in within 2 weeks of completing the school.
